Inner brilliance >>> Resilience

Resilience is a thing that comes up frequently these days.

(Interestingly, artists are innately resilient because of how their minds work, they have to be flexible and creatively problem solve, it’s a creative source.. but I digress…)

I get asked about resilience quite a bit.

And for me it’s always linked to that soft space no one really wants to go - the inner world.

Yet the inner world is crucial.

And it’s crucial to make friends with it.

There are many reasons why we (in western ‘civilisation’) don’t connect to our inner worlds, not least the humungous impact on capitalism that demands we find our validation externally and connecting value and self worth to expensive tastes and stripping us of our autonomies. But I digress…

A lot of coaching conversations loop back to what’s happening on the inside - because the world here - the private world, the inner voices, the critic and ‘all the parts’ of us - shape how we show up on the outside and how we react and respond and adapt to situations [resilience].

So what of it?

Well, you’ll be pleased to know that resilience isn’t that far out of reach.

This part of the work is about coming to know yourself:

Understanding yourself

Connecting inwards

Listening

Practising compassion - and for most of us learning how to is the biggest barrier

Respecting our needs

Acknowledging and working with our values

Creating working principles (I do a lot of work on T&C’s with clients, it’s hugely impactful)

Installing boundaries

Embodying a sense of who you want to evolve into

Being clear on the message - your personal brand

And then acting these out externally.

Doing this work creates a positive energy.

And that energy is a language - it’s a signal to the people you engage with, that you carry the confidence and resilience to do the job well, say.

Confidence and resilience go hand in hand. Confidence is the big ‘C’ that comes into the coaching space time and time again. And it starts with compassion - but that’s another blog.

So when these topics are explored and shown up,  a sense of resilience can follow naturally.

Thus - resilience can be seen as an output of the work that is done.

Inner brilliance leads to resilience, so to have resilience you need to build your inner brilliance.

So let’s do the work!
