Company development
Last week I began two new client journeys, with companies that are expanding exponentially from small scale production to a healthy sized team. They are looking for coaching support and facilitation to make the process of transition and growth smooth, and also to map future opportunities succinctly and with rigour.
I really enjoy this part of the journey working with a company. The production processes have already been established, clients are on board, systems are in place. Both companies have recently moved to spanking new premises with either whoppingly large machinery designed for intricate and complex processes, or impressive new buildings with beautifully designed features. And heating.
Of course the building is one new big and visible structure - what about the hidden company structures - do they get left behind? As a company grows it’s easy to focus on the output - the function- what of it’s purpose? Core values, ethos, internal and external messaging? Team development? Future plans, ideas and aspirations?
The change of environment has created in the current staff a new lift and excitement as well as the physical ease of larger scale more fluid production lines. It has also been the catalyst for more unsettling inner processes, in individual’s abilities to realign themselves with the building, with the company, with the other members of the team and with themselves. This sideways shift will form some of the explorations I will facilitate with the teams in coming weeks, exploring the soft shifts as well as the harder business structuring, allowing space for both.
This combination of personal and company development side by side will prove to be a winning formula for this part of the journey for both companies. Their experiences will be unique in the process. By looking at the inner work and the outer work in parallel the movement of motivation will be aligned and the company will step forward holistically.
Because of course we all know that at the end of the day it is people we are working with.
