A Tudor manor house will be taken over by burnt-out business executives next month as they join a unique retreat to bring their leadership mojo back to life.
The Leadership to Life retreat offers a combination of personal and professional coaching to help leaders and managers get back on track after a tough couple of years.
It is based at Morland House, a Grade II listed former vicarage on the edge of the Lake District fells, and is being run by leadership coach Kate Brundrett.
Kate said: “People in leadership roles have had a tough couple of years and many are feeling like they need to take a pause and refresh. They want to step out of the day to day and get some business perspective, while boosting their personal resilience and wellbeing.
“We’re offering a unique blend of personal and professional coaching, interspersed with wellbeing activities and excursions into the mountains. This is an ideal opportunity for them to replenish with some time out mixed with professional development designed to get them back on track with their professional vision.
“We want to bring people here to experience this amazing place and go away with happiness in their belly and peace in their minds and bring their leadership mojo back to life.”
Morland House is in the village of Morland, in the Eden District of Cumbria. Set within extensive gardens, it promises high end luxury with quirky touches.
Kate said: “The house is steeped in history. There is lots of oak panelling, a hat stand with lots of hats to try on, paintings, books, antiques, curiosities and four-poster beds. It really is an amazing house. The grounds are wonderful, with lawns, a rose garden, an orchard and a river running through, with ‘Monet’ style bridges, secret stone steps, hidden nooks and crannies and stone lion statues.
“We are so lucky to live in this amazing part of the world and we really want to bring people here to share that experience. This is a real treat.”
The retreat runs for four days and includes coaching sessions from Kate, a fully accredited leadership coach with 30 years’ experience within the creative industries. In the early 2000s, Kate set up the Cumbria Network, a regional development hub for those in the creative industries. It was a huge success and saw her invited to 11 Downing Street to talk to then culture secretary Tessa Jowell to give her input on the government’s creative industries policies.
There will also be a session run by wellbeing expert Nicky Forbes, who has 25 years’ experience in mental health therapy and EFT training delivery.
Activities will include a trek up a ‘mini’ mountain and return on a lake steamer for gourmet ice creams as well as mindful walks and meditations.
Guests will also have access to The Studio Morland, a not-for-profit arts and wellness centre, which was co-founded by Kate five years ago.
The four-day retreat runs from May 9 to 12.
